Welcome to Fourth Grade!
Fourth grade at Bannockburn School is a student-centered, activity-based classroom where children work toward becoming a community of learners. Students are introduced to more complex ideas and utilize a comprehensive curriculum that helps each child to be successful at his or her own level.
In fourth grade, students strengthen comprehension, develop analytical thinking skills, and build knowledge. These skills are interrelated and build upon one another throughout the year.
Fourth graders begin taking more responsibility for their own learning. Using their experiences in the classroom, students apply concepts and skills in every subject. Provided with a cooperative learning model, hands-on activities, and differentiated teaching, students then employ strategies to make meaningful connections and develop into proficient learners. A combination of student participation, parent support, and teacher instruction help make a positive and productive school year.
