Library Media Specialist-Mrs. Garneau

Welcome to the ICE Lab!

The mission of the Bannockburn School Library is to ensure that our students are effective, ethical, and enthusiastic users of ideas and information. The Library program is based on the belief that reading and research are fundamental to successful life-long learning and school success.

The Library program supports classroom instruction by aligning Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English and Language Arts with the Illinois Standards for Libraries.

Illinois Standards-Aligned Instruction for Libraries (I-SAIL)

Standard 1: Access information efficiently and effectively to inquire, think critically, and gain knowledge

Standard 2: Evaluate information critically and competently to draw conclusions, make informed decisions, apply knowledge to new situations, and create new knowledge

Standard 3: Use information accurately, creatively, and ethically to share knowledge and participate ethically and productively as members of our democratic society

Standard 4: Appreciates literature and other creative expressions of information and pursues information related to personal interests and aesthetic growth

Our collection consists of 10,000 print titles for grades K-8 as well as nearly 600 eBooks, including digital audio books, that students can listen to and read on their own personal devices, or using district technology.
